and activities do Recovery Residences offer?

WHO DOES A RECOVERY RESIDENCE LIKE RIGHT PATH  SERVE?

  • We serve graduates of 30-, 60-, or 90-day programs. They enter our sober living program able to live independently and harmoniously in a community sober living. We are not a medically facility or a rehab occasionally, we accept people who may only have completed detox AND have a long history of residential treatment.

  • We welcome those who are willing to go to a 12-step meeting every day.

  • We welcome those with co-occurring PTSD, ADHD, depression and anxiety.

  • We're not a clinical program but all of our clients are required to be supported by an individualized "wrap-around" clinical program.

INTAKE PROCESS

  • start by calling 203-339-1191.

  • There are generally two interviews. The first one is with the intake coordinator and the second is with house members.

  • Remember we are NOT a rehab or any kind of medical facility, so any controlled substance(s) are not accepted. 

  • once the phone interviews are complete, we set up a deposit to hold the bed and set a date and time for arrival. 

  • during the second interview, you'll be able to speak directly to members of the house.

  • If it's not already completed by the rehab, we will help you set up your clinical plan when arrive.

Work Desk

WHAT TO BRING TO SOBER LIVING

  • Please bring: clothes for one week, including both work and workout clothes, and laundry basket/detergent. We have washing machines and dryers (no bleach please).

  • Sports equipment, a bike if you'd like, including helmet.

  • Your resume.

  • A week's worth of breakfast and lunch groceries. You'll purchase groceries for dinner one night every so often (depending on many people are in the house at that time) otherwise, your dinner is provided by your housemates.

  • Use our linens/towels or bring your own. 

  • According to the individual situation, you may bring electronics - including laptops and your car.

  • No alcohol-based toiletries.

  • No candles.  

  • No aerosols.

Every evening we gather for a family-like dinner that one of us prepares with love and care. If you have dietary restrictions, we handle them like any family would and make accommodations.

LENGTH OF STAY

  • We require a 3 month minimum stay

  • According to SAMSHA research, the most effective length of stay for sustainable recovery is at 14.2 months

  • Our average length of stay is 7.1 months

WORK OR SCHOOL

  • There is plenty of varied work or institutes of higher education 

  • Three community colleges

  • Yale, UNH, Albertus Magnus, Quinnipiack, Connecticut College, and Southern Connecticut State University.

PAYMENTS

Payments are due every month. We use AUTOPAY and also accept Venmo, personal checks, cash, and credit card (with a 3.5% credit card fee). There is a non-refundable $300 administrative fee required for the first month.

  • Biking and hiking

  • Join in one of the numerous fun activities-organize one yourself.  We're located in a vacation spot 

  • Bring hiking boots or good sneakers and your own helmet.

Amenities

​You may bring your own car or bike. In the first thirty days, we ask that you travel safely with a house member, except when traveling to your own therapy or work obligations. If you need us to provide transportation, there is an additional charge.

 

Devine Equine is offered at Right Path House. Both ground lessons and mounted lessons are offered.

 

Gym membership, art, and singing bowls are included in your monthly fee. â€‹

On the beautiful Connecticut shore, we own and operate two gender-specific homes: a men's and a women's house in Clinton and Madison. In safe, certified, and comfortable sober houses, each offers a community where we get well and find purpose.

Here's how:

​1. Assess each potential resident’s needs and determine whether the level of support available within the residence is appropriate. Provide assistance to the resident for referral in or outside of the residence.

​

2. Value diversity and non-discrimination.

​

3. Provide a safe, homelike environment that meets NARR Standards.

​​

4. Maintain an alcohol- and illicit-drug-free environment.

​​

5. Honor your right to choose your recovery paths within the parameters defined by the residence organization.

​​

6. Protect your privacy and personal rights.

​​

7. Provide consistent and uniformly applied rules.

​​

8. Provide for the health, safety and welfare of each resident.

​​

9. Address each resident fairly in all situations.

​​

10. Encourage you to sustain relationships with professionals, recovery support service providers and allies.

​​

11. Take appropriate action to stop intimidation, bullying, sexual harassment and/or otherwise threatening behavior of residents, staff and visitors within the residence.

​

12. Take appropriate action to stop retribution, intimidation, or any negative consequences that could occur as the result of a grievance or complaint.

​​

13. Provide consistent, fair practices for drug testing that promote your recovery and the health and safety of the recovery environment and protect the privacy of resident information to the extent allowed by law.

​

14. Provide an environment in which each resident’s recovery needs are the primary factors in all decision making.

 

15. Promote the residence with marketing or advertising that is supported by accurate, open and honest claims.

 

16. Decline taking an active role in the recovery plans of relatives, close friends, and/or business acquaintances who may apply to live in the recovery residence.

 

17. Sustain transparency in operational and financial decisions.

 

18. Maintain clear personal and professional boundaries.

 

19. Operate within the residence’s scope of service and within professional training and credentials.

 

20. Maintain an environment that promotes the peace and safety of the surrounding neighborhood and the community at large.
